Wake Boarding Tips for The True Entertainers
For those interested in wake boarding, we have some tips for you. No matter what level you want to pursue, the two most important things are to 1)enjoy the sport, and 2) take proper safety precautions.
1. Be Safe— One can never be too careful, especially around water, boats, and speed.
• Wear a personal flotation device at all times.
• Take a second person with you on the boat, in addition to the driver, who can look out for other boats or obstructions.
2. Determine which of your feet is the “prominent foot”—this is the foot that you want on the front of the board.
• To determine your prominent foot, see which foot you put first into a pair of pants when getting dressed. This is your prominent foot.
3. Use a rope no longer than 40 feet—this will make it easier on you getting in and out of the water.
• The ideal length for a beginner’s rope is between 30 and 40 feet.
• Try to hold the rope low and parallel to the water
• Also, instruct the driver ahead of time to stay around 15 miles per hour.
4. Be patient with yourself—it takes time to perfect all the aspects of wake boarding
• Distribute your weight to the front of the board
• Once you are standing, transition the weight to the back of the board.
5. Stay relaxed, but concentrate
• It might take a few tries before you begin having fun with wake boarding.
• Relax, and focus on your balance, and keeping the rope handle low and parallel to the water.
• In time you will master your technique and will be able to have even more fun with tricks and stunts.
